Pros: Plug and Play operation with Windows 7 32 and 64 bit. Easy configuration in Linux. The USB cable for the IR receiver is about 5 feet long so it can accommodate many different mounting situations. The IR is strong enough that I've been able to use the remote from more than 20 feet away. The remote is stylishly designed and even though it is very light, it feels quite sturdy. It isn't overly complicated. Cons: My only con might not be so bad for people with younger eyes than mine.
The button descriptions and the pictures stamped on the buttons are hard to see in anything but very good lighting. A new remote is always a challenge until I get used to it and I always appreciate easy to see buttons until I do get used to it.
I need to hold this remote right under the lamp to read the button descriptions. I'm sure I won't care about that any more after I've used it for a week or two, but until then, it is an annoyance. I've always used a high end wireless keyboard and mouse for these machines in the past.
Just recently, I decided it might be nice to simplify things a little bit and try a remote for media center. This remote works very well and does improve the media center experience. I don't think that a remote is a replacement for a keyboard and mouse but it is an excellent enhancement for Media Center and MYTH. Just had to install the lirc packages.
During the install it will ask which remote you have, just choose the new style MCE remote option. XBMC then picked it up without any intervention and the default button mappings appear to be adequate. Pros: Inexpensive. Works out of the box with lirc. I've been experiencing a problem with Media Center where some though not all of my scheduled TV recordings, when played back, suddenly show a black screen and lose audio for the remainder of the program. The length of the recording remains the total scheduled length of the show as well, so Media Center is not crashing or anything while its recording.
I have no idea why this is, as other recordings are perfectly fine and I have never had this problem watching programs live on TV either.
Was this reply helpful? Yes No. Sorry this didn't help. Thanks for your feedback. I am running Vista x Thanks for your help. The one on my folder didn't work Thanks to the publisher for this repository. If you need Update Discs to add, just email me: bionichuman07 gmail.
Update: I was able to use a tool like "easy2boot" to get it working. I managed to find the correct key in the ISO with some searching, it's actually. At the bottom of that file is the correct key. I'd expect this to work with the rest of the ISOs, too. Thanks for providing these, it's been helpful for restoring some older XP machines!
